Another disadvantage of the binaries newsgroups vs a web site is bandwidth
utilization. Somebody posts a picture to the newsgroup, it gets distributed
(transmitted) all over the world. Two people download the picture, but it has
still been transmitted a gazillion times.

Upload to the web, it just sits there. Two people download the picture, it
gets sent twice. Maybe less, if the people are from the same (large) ISP,
which caches the site once the first person requested it.
