A good point . . . the difference here is that the airports have
demonstrated their utility in the east with higher population density,
and in a part of the east where there is a lot of growth, and
therefore a lot of pressure on "little airplane" airports.
Hopefully (although I learned long ago to not hold my breath). . . the
next time someone moves to FL and says "well in Chicago, we just
bulldozed the place," someone will gently say "Bless your heart dear,
but you're not Chicago anymore" and go one explain the benefit the
airport and all those "piper cubs" are providing to the community.
