I don't know about Terraserver, but I've found several planes using NVidia's
Keyhole Earthviewer. Example:

This is on final approach to KSAN.
A little plug for Earthviewer - the service is $5.95/month, and definitely
worth it in my opinion. There's a remarkable amount of coverage at high
resolution (large metropolitan areas, mostly), though there's also low
resolution coverage of the entire US (lower still in the rest of the world).
They're expanding, though. I use the program to take a look at airports I'm
flying to so I have a better idea of what's in store before hand. One of the
coolest things is that it retrieves elevation data and lets you look at
surrounding terrain in 3d.

I have been looking at some satellite photos on the web and I got to
thinking, I wonder if they have ever snapped a photo just as an airplane
was flying by. Has anyone ever seen that in a satellite photo? Some of
them are pretty detailed and you could easily make out the bigger planes.
