Jay,
On your page, you say: "Our desire is that viewing the crash videos should
be an educational experience, with the goal of preventing similar
accidents
in the future." As a CFI, please tell me how I can learn from, and pass
on
lessons to my students regarding each of the videos on your website.
They may not "learn" a damn thing. But they will be reminded how a instant
of inattention or carelessness can have rather exciting consequences. To
say a student could never learn anything from watching crash videos is
Really Silly.
The likes of you and Dudley would rather see these videos locked up in a
vault somewhere never to be seen again?
Man, If I ever go down while someone is videoing me - and if Jay doesn't
post my demise on his site - I will come back as a Gremlin in your engine.
Promise.
I view every "crash video" I have ever seen vicariously and wonder what I'd
do to alter the outcome.
Do most people view it this way? Probably not as most people ain't pilots.
I'd like to think most pilots view these videos in a slightly different
light.
There's a video of a B1 bomber flying very low and turning sharply when it
simply drops out of the sky. I think of this incident often when I'm in the
pattern making my base-to-final.
. . . Then again, some of them are just cool to watch.
