If I put all the speed mods on my 180 how much faster will it really go.
I did the K2U flap, aileron, stabilitor and fuselage seals along
with the wing root fairing and MetCo tips. All of that gave me
another 7 knots at 75%@7,500 ft. It wasn't worth it for the speed,
but it was well worth it for the handling improvements.
Ditto. I have the above on my 180, except I have K2U wingtips with
landing lights, and wheel pant fairings.
My 180 will do about 152 mph @ 7500 ft @ about 75%. Book is about
144, so an 8 mph gain.
As John mentions, the handling improvements are great. With roll and
pitch being crisper, it is easier to handle gusty crosswinds, and the
pitch authority in flare is much improved. I can now hold the nose
off for quite some time after I land, whereas before the nose would
drop almost immediately after landing.
Also, with the landing light equipped wingtips, night landings are a
breeze with 3 landing lights.
