I mean, "This Old House" was cool -- but now there are clones of it on every
single cable channel.

If my wife is any example, it's easy to see why it's popular. She
watches it all the time to gather ideas on house/kitchen/bathroom
mods.

She gets to see exactly what the modifications look like when done so
she can decide if it's something worth doing in our place. She can't
be the only woman watching. In fact, this might be a woman thing.
