Oh no it doesn't



All a sideways tilt in the lift vector tries to do
is move the glider
sideways. Whether or not that results in a turn depends
on what you do
with the rudder.

Um, methinks it is the stabilizer/elevator instead
of the rudder. Jet jockeys call it 'bank and yank.'
