Marfa (MRF) sees Southerly winds, generally. Fly North towards Carlsbad, NM or
Odessa, TX. East to San Angelo, TX often looks good. West towards El Paso is
tricky with terrain and airspace. A South heading won't work - the Rio Grande
river and Mexico are 75 miles south of Marfa! Mountains that produce our local
winter-spring wave are along the Rio Grande. ADIZ / Border awareness
essential. Consult WAC Chart CH-23 and El Paso sectional for XC planning.

Marfa field elevation is almost 5,000' msl. The terrain 50 miles to the north
- beyond the Marfa Plateau and Davis Mountains - drops to 3,000' msl. WAC
Chart 23 reveals all!

Come visit our new soaring facility at Marfa.
