Hello all -- Does anyone have recommendations for clubs for an American
pilot to study with while in New Zealand?

I'm a student glider pilot near to solo, expecting to get a license in
the U.S. by June or so. I'm thinking ahead to a New Zealand trip I'm
planning for Jan or Feb. I'd like to spend a week or so of the trip
adding to what I'll have learned by then. I'd like to generally improve
my flying skills while getting to know the aspects of soaring unique to
the area (not much wave potential here in Oregon).

So far I've been looking at Southern Soaring
(http://www.soaring.co.nz/courses.php) and Gavin Wills' outfit

Both have suggested a "personalized" package with a week's worth of
training and use of a glider.

Both are a chunk of money, and I want to spend it wisely. Are these
good spots? Is Jan/Feb too late in the season? Thoughts?
