Default Auto-Engine Conversion Oil Cooler

The unit you picture can also be had from canton products.

Setrab sells some units that go in the radiator hose and use just such
and adapter to do their cooling, watter to oil. Come in many sizes.

Ford crown vic police cruisers use the sandwich oil cooler in between
the filter and block, as well as the Cobra Mustangs.

Its not a big deal to have a custome adapter built to fit the GM
(Corvette/Z28/LT1) cooler on a ford motor...

To contact me direct you need to add my first initial to the
front of my last name in the e-mail addy.

After posting this I went back to the site and re-read the little bit of
info they give on it and now I am not sure that it is what we think it
is. It now looks like it is only an adapter to allow easy connection of
a standard air-to-oil type cooler rather than the coolant-to-oil heat
exchanger similar to the Modine unit. Below is the text from the web
site. Oh, well. Guess we are still looking.

OIL COOLER/FILTER ADAPTER
Sandwich-style adapter mounts between engine block and oil filter in
stock location
*Allows installation of oil coolers without relocating original filter*

3/8" FPT openings can be used with your choice of fittings and 1/2" hose
(sold separately)

Full-flow cooling. Includes fail-safe bypass valve that opens if oil
cooler of filtration system becomes clogged.

(A) Fail-safe bypass valves not included; engine block has automatic
bypass built in.

Some people have asked about the oil coolers used on the Ford (and
Chevy) V-6 aero-conversions. The original Modine unit has become
unavailable from the manufacturers outlets and there has been
difficulty finding a replacement. The Modine units are still available
through dealers for several hundred dollars when you can match
numbers. Several speed and truck shops have carried them at lower
prices, but, again, getting the correct unit to fit the block was
problematic. Corky Scott, in getting his Ford V-6 conversion running
in the last week, has discovered a water jacket leak in his salvage
yard oil cooler. In his search for another he stumbled on a very
similar unit from J.C. Whitney. Details are sketchy but this looks
like it may do the trick. It does not have the cooling capacity of the
12 plate Modine but multiple units may be stack-able, as was the
Modine, to provide more cooling. Corky has ordered one to check it
out. He or I will let you know the results.

Though this looks like a remote oil filter mount it is listed as "oil
cooler" and the nut in the lower left corner is what is needed to
mount the unit on the engine block

under the oil filter.
