The tasks on the first day is 834 Km for 15 meter and 1012 Km for open.
I
guess that will get the attention of the participants ;-)
The results:
In Open Class all but three pilots made it (1 K, that is!) and also all
the
three not completing the task flew over 900 K.
From (poor) memory, I seem to recall stories of two previous 1K tasks
during competitions (I believe one was in the US, and one possibly in
Australia?). Details are hazy, but I think the number of finishers in
each case was in the very low single digit range. Nothing like 17
finishers.
Leaves you wondering - what are the tasksetters going to do now if the
weather turns really good? :-)
They probably still smile because of yesterday

But, I guess they don't
gamble any more and keep the tasks in cozy 700-800 km level... Well,
theoretically 1k in 15 meters, but it's quite slight a chance in my
opininion, though...
a) yesterday 15m started about 40-50 minutes later (because of the towing
order)
b) arrived another 40-50 minutes earlier
c) made the same average speed
so... 1,5 hours with 117 km/h... makes one wonder...
To be straight, those 1,5 hours wouldn't have been the fastest ones :/
Today should be quite a fast- just a 500k- task to give the pilots a bit of
rest.
Then, tomorrow maybe...
And all this is just my little thoughts and I don't affect the tasks in any
level, nor do I have any "inside" sources. These are not even rumours. I
just have a bit of lose time in my hands to muse about things
