The sudden part of this phenomenon probably corresponded to a large
change in angle of attack of the jet (perhaps increasing as it slowed
down), which in turn changes the pressure distribution around the

I was pax onboard a 717 flying into Atlanta in september 02, seated just aft
of the wings. As we were descending spoilers were deployed, and i could see
the condensate flash behind the spoiler, was quite impressive, being
literally feet away from it while it happened. Also very cool to be flying
in the FlightLevels and see an aircraft pass nearby opposite direction
"Conning", very spectacular.
