I've been to both within the last year or so. The short answer is to just
make the flight routine and use ACY. If you like, circle the pattern at AIY
once so you get the nice view, then land at ACY. You won't have to worry
about tight approaches or whether or not your plane will be safe and sound
while your off having fun.
If you decide AIY anyway, check the notams and A/FD notes as they used to
close at least one morning a week to clean shells and other junk off the
runways. Also, 11/29 is almost always the preferred runway with 11 being
the easiest approach. 29 requires either a slam dunk westbound once you get
over the boardwalk, or some tight circling coming eastbound. Last time I
looked, 4/22 has a note saying it can only be used in one direction. No
landings on 4 and no takeoffs on 22.
I did my requisite landing at AIY once. Every other time since I've just
landed at ACY.
best,
mark

A friend has convinced me that we should go down to Atlantic City for a day
of walking the Boardwalk, and taking in the sites.
Any thoughts about Atlantic City Muni (Bader Field) vs Atlantic City Int.?
