The board for my EAA chapter has just adopted a policy where the

Aside from the issue that I'm not particularly comforable with
the idea of
where the chapter's hard earned money is going...
As a former EAA Chapter Officer, that's more than uncomfortable to
me. If members don't want to fly kids for the delight of doing so,
then it should be of no interest to Chapter management to spend
other members' money like that. Chapter management should ask
themselves exactly what they're accomplishing. Or just fly a kid
or two at a time. Honestly tell his/her Mom/Dad no thanx
necessary; I was subsidized to do it. $75 lousy bucks; if all that
big a deal, it may not be cynical to suggest that member may not
have enough rental time currency to fly the kid in virtual perfect
safety.

I have the same concerns. Also, it seems to be a conflict that under "the
plan", people who rent airplanes get compensated, wheras people who actually
own airplanes don't. Not that I want to be compensated, but if renters are
put in a world of financial hurt by spending $75 out of pocket on a rental,
I'm out at least 1/2 that on fuel alone, not to mention wear and tear plus
the fixed cost of owning my own airplane...
It just seems like a poorly though out idea to me... Hmm, MY dues go to pay
for YOUR gas, and at the same time I'm still paying for MY gas? Naah...
