Just an uneducated guess here, but based on other Cirrus accident
profiles this might be another VFR into IMC upset. A quick check of the
database shows the pilot was a PPL with no IFR cert. If the chute had
been deployed in flight I suspect there should have been survivors even
if the plane was totaled. The Cirrus official's saying the chute could
have deployed after impact was very enlightening. Still, a horrible
tragedy for the family for sure.
