Default Over the hump...

Jay

The other way.

Taxi out after sunset and roll with burners on and climb straight up
until you are back in sunlight.

One advantage of being a Fighter Jock. You can see two sunsets in one
day )

How much is the sunrise/sunset delayed per thousand feet of altitude?

Wouldn't it only be sunSET that is delayed by altitude?

Aye, Captain.

Dunno the answer, but it's always cool to see. Being up in the sun while
the lights are twinkling on, below, is one of the neatest things about a
sunset flight.

We do a lot of those on Valentine's Day, as part of our "Ultimate
Valentine's Day" package. (Well, we contract with our FBO to do the
flights, since we're not commercially rated...)

I have yet to see anyone not thrilled by the sight.
