Default Evinrude 437cc

Clare
That's to bad, it looks and sound like (437cc) the perfect engine. But it
proves looks can be misleading.
Probably to old of a design to increase the hp? What ashamed. Back to the
drawing board (or junk yard) Thanks again Joe

Hi group

I built a Ragwing RW-6 and was thinking of using 1972 Evinrude 437cc

engine,
rebuilt of course, from a Evinrude TW-30-Q snowmobile. It's a nice

looking
twin apposed cylinders But I think might only be 30hp.

From what I remember it was rated at 22HP back in 1972 - I remember it
was significantly lower than the 440 Rotax.
I have looked at them before too, with aircraft use in mind. Their CDI
ignition never was reliable enough to leave the ground with though,
and is terribly expensive to replace/repair.

Does anyone know anything about this engine, and can the hp be increased
safely.

I also have a polaris 340cc but would like to get closer to 40 hp.also
considering 1/2 VW.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Joe
