It looks consistent with the BMG ILS 35 approach
(http://www.naco.faa.gov/d-tpp/0604/05168IL35.PDF),
though the article doesn't say whether the flight was IFR or VFR. According
to the FAA database, the pilot was instrument (and multi-engine) rated.
