Ah yes, area " Nighthawk", reserved for (then) CF-101 Voodoos doing
intercept training. When not using the area, it was given back to
Vancouver center (?) and airliners did indeed use it. The voodoos
left in 1984, replaced for at least a short time by CF 18s. I don't
know if there are still CF 18s at Comox.
Simplest is to call the base at Comox, 250-339-8231 ask for ATC, and
ask them for what's likely to happen reference this area. Failing
that, try Vancouver center, 604-775-9601
Good luck on your trip to Alaska

What type of airspace is the restricted airspace north of Vancouver Island.
Flightmap lists it as COMOX and says that it reaches from 18,000MSL to
Unlimited. It is big, about 165nm on the NS axis and 110nm EW. What are my
chances at getting cleared through it at FL240?

Thanks!
