You can also bring up the map and drag you airplane wherever you want. You
can also set the heading and altitude. This is pretty handy to try different
approaches very quickly.

instrument approaches and start off at a waypoint or IAF. I remember
FS98 (or an earlier version) having a "Go to location" menu item. You
could then set the lat/log/altitude and other attributes.

Just go to Map View and type in the coordinates, heading, etc. that you
want.
