The Ely Grand Prix was canceled, due mostly to lack of interested
pilots. In my opinion, the IGC has sort of botched the Qualifying Grand
Prix concept. Why would anyone from Europe travel to Ely for a
supposedly international contest, when they had five other qualifying
contests to choose from within Europe? What it should have been (and
was attempted, but too late) was a US national qualifier, with
international participation encouraged...
