Default Wisconsin Airports with nearby Resaurants

This past Sunday, my wife, son, and I met the Midwest hopping Honeck family
in Baraboo, WI for a mid afternoon buffet at the Ho-Chunk Indian Casino.

And a great time was had by all!

Ah, food in Wisconsin. It's almost as ubiquitous as beer! There are
just a lot of good choices there -- far more than the more populous
Illinois, for some reason.

In no particular order, here are our favorite airport food places in
Wisconsin a

1. Grand Geneva Resort. (C02) A lush resort with their own airport,
and a fantastic Sunday brunch. We need to get there again, soon!

2. Lake Lawn Lodge. (C59) A not-quite-so-lush resort with their own
airport, and darned good Sunday brunch. (Has anyone visited them since
their big $20 million renovation?)

3. Janesville's CAVU Cafe. (JVL) Right on the ramp, taxi up to it, get
out and eat. On any given summer Saturday, you might see a P-51
Mustang, an L-39 jet trainer, or a beautifully restored Travel Air.
Great food too, and they serve breakfast till 2 PM. (This is
important, cuz we work every weekend, and don't get off Sundays till
noon.)

4. Lone Rock's Picadilly Lilly's. (LNR) Another one you can taxi up
to. Good food, decent service, cheap prices, huge portions. Order two
pancakes -- I dare you!

5. Ephraim-Fish Creek. The best breakfast you'll ever get, period,
is served at the White Gull Inn. Try their cherry-stuffed french
toast, their home-made coffee cakes, their unique hash browned
potatoes, and their outstanding eggs benedict.

6. Oshkosh (OSH) Fly in during the off-season (meaning any of the 51
weeks when Airventure isn't happening), and you can park right near
Friar Tuck's and the Hilton. Skip the Hilton, and get one of Friar
Tuck's outstanding sandwiches.

7. Racine (RAC) My hometown. Use their courtesy car, and ask
directions to one of three places.

Breakfast: Go to "Pia's Pizzaria" (I'm not kidding) for an omelette,
hash browns, and Italian toast that is worth the flight.

Lunch: Go to "Kewpies" (I'm still not kidding) for a cheeseburger,
fries and malt that are the best in the world, period.

Dinner: Finally, for upscale, ask for the "Corner House" -- for the
best prime rib we've ever had, anywhere, served in quiet luxury and
class -- since World War II. It's a Racine tradition that goes back
several generations.

Bring your cholesterol meds!
