Default Heres to the old guys, racing, but not sailplanes.

In Topeka Kansas, the SCCA is running the Runoffs. This is THE big race of
the year if you are an SCCA Club Racer. It's also the last race for a
small, underfunded, old and slow team. My race mentor and good friend Charlie
Kuhlmann, 75, is hanging it up after 686 National events, 27 runoff
appearances and god only knows how many tow miles over the years. He raced a
Porsche Speedsters, Lotus 23 , Bobsey SR6, and a couple other cars over the
years, and is finishing his career in a Ralt RT1.

Seriously outgunned in qualifying by much faster guys in much faster
equipment, Charlie is a victim of the infamous 120% rule. Not fast enough to
race the big event. The stewards are giving him an OK to take the green, run
2 laps and park the car. He knows he is traffic and is happy to make one
last grid with his friends. So Friday at 9.30am, you will hear me screaming
on the sidelines for a gentleman, underdog, and my best friend.........
Today, a nice guy will finish last....smiling.....

I wish you all could see it.............

Have a great day, I am

Scott
