For insurance purposes an M20C and M20J are the same. When I bought my
F they accepted time in a C (the first time I ever flew an F was the
day I picked it up solo). However, the two are about as similar as a
C-150 and C-172. Doesn't seem to be much reason as to when different
are generally considered a different type by insurance or laypilots.
