This reminded me. I just cancelled my AOPA MBNA now BOA card 15 minutes
ago. That 5% fuel discount used to be worth it, but now the earning
points thing is totally not worth the trouble.
I put an engine overhaul on it and as such, it was probably worth it at
the time... Since that time, I only used the MBNA card when I was not
refilling at my hangar (i.e. not being able to use mogas)... Since most of
my flights for the last year have been within the range of my tanks and I
haven't needed to refill at remote airports, I haven't had to use it since
BOA tookover... Actually, what made me start wondering about the card was
that the MBNA card that was in my wallet had already expired and I started
thinking that BOA should have received a replacement card from BOA by this
time... Initially, I told them to send me a new card and I had given them
enough information to satisfy them that I was the owner of the card at
that point... But after I had numerous problems logging onto their site
and had to resort to calling them to get them to fix it, it turned out
that the amount of information required for changing my password was more
than it took to get a new card... At this point, I was a bit ****ed at
their website and the various transfers from person to person and the wait
on hold, so I sarcastically asked if I had given them enough information
that I could cancel my card... Turns out that I had, so I cut my losses
and just cancelled the card... AOPA just got caught in the fallout, I
guess...
