Dyess B-1B blows tires on landing image 1829
On Thursday, 9 November, a B-1B from Dyess Air Force Base landed at
Pensacola Naval Air Station to take part in the 60th Anniversary of the Blue
Angels Homecoming Airshow. I spoke with the pilot who said that when they
saw the engines of the arresting gear next to the runway they were afraid
the cables were there and that they would shred their tires. So, they
lifted off enough to pass over the section where there would be cables.
Then, after landing again, they had problems with their anti-skid system.
Bottom line.....the aircraft was stuck there until Friday evening. First
day of the airshow that runway was closed.
The runway is closed again.....the Super Hornet blew a tire landing
yesterday and is sitting on the south side of a runway.
