Fairchild model 82 would be my guess.
Thanks! "Fairchild" was the clue I needed to track
down this plane. It appears to be a Fairchild 71-C.
This particular plane has its own web page:

CF-ATZ flew from 1933 to 1949, then crashed on Lake
Aristofats, NWT (with the death of the pilot and one
passenger; three other passengers survived). The wreck
was recovered in 1980 and restored.
It would feel kinda odd to fly a plane that
someone else died in.
