Default us customs duties on glider

Thank you for info.
As I fly gliders in Europe would anybody know if there is an option to keep
a glider on an "N" number in Europe for a while (year or two)?
Is there an inspection required before getting a registration? Does it has
to be here in the US or can one be done in Europe?

No on both counts. Civil aircraft are exempted from duty
restrictions.

If you are working with a dealer like Eastern, they should provide you
with detailed instructions on properly filling out the customs
paperwork and recommend a customs broker. Other than the hassle of
paperwork, it was pretty painless.

It cost us about $300 using Barthco through Port of Wilmington in
03.
