Pegasus Rudder Cables?
In our case, there was a small crack starting on one of the rudder pedals at
the weld. The area actually looked slightly compressed as though it had been
squeezed in a vise. Still, it would have taken a mighty heavy foot to
actually break it. I suspect a vertical nose down landing, ouch, would have
accomplished that. I wish we could have just welded on a reinforcing plate,
like they did on the new pedals, to solve the problem because the new pedals
are narrower and much more uncomfortable to use.

I suspect I
could beat the old pedals with a hammer for a few hours with no ill
effect.
In an accident, like a high speed ground-loop, the pilot may end up
more or less standing on the rudder pedals. I have seen cracked rudder
pedals where there was no damage to the nose of the
glider.......................I suspect this was the issue that lead to
this AD.
