VHF doesn't use 'long wire antennas'

You can operate on long wire antennae with VHF if you cut them right
(centre-fed droppy V-dipole, etc.) but there's no need to on an aircraft.

The c-130 is identical to what Gord wrote. In fact, my friends in Mojave
are seeking an STC to eliminate these wirs and put the antenna in the
vertical stab. (ie L139)
