I would ask them very nicely whhere you could look up that law that says
that.

Mmmmmm... "restricted area" BS notwithstanding, they (meaning Home
Depot) could ask you to leave based on trespassing laws. (the
standard "parking lot for customers only; two hour limit" stuff).
