Default KLN89B manual

Your avionics shop is not correct. Here is the actual requirement from the
Garmin 430 supplement:

LIMITATIONS

1. The GARMIN GNS 430 Pilot's Guide, P/N 190-00140-00, Rev. A, dated
October, 1998, or later appropriate revision, must be immediately available
to the flight crew whenever navigation is predicated on the use of the
system.

I have the original manual, and would be glad to provide a reproduction.
Let me know what you feel is legal. I still have my 89/B so I cannot part
with it. I also have a required supplement that is carried in the plane.

On my Garmin 430, I have a supplement as well in the POH. However, I was
told by the avionics shop that the supplement was adeqaute to satisfy the
in-aircraft requirement therefore not needing the manual in the plane.
Maybe Tom, the original poster, just needs to track down a supplement?
