Ed,
I just saw you on the History Channel: they're showing "Viet Nam: On The Front
Lines" as I write this. I finally have a face to go with the name and the book.
Generally speaking, it's not a good thing to be on TV but this looked pretty
good.
Let me confirm your generalization. When asked to do the piece for
History Channel, I accepted. When the production crew arrived and
announced that they were really from CBS News I had visions of "60
Minutes" flash through my mind and war criminal trials ensuing. After
the interview, conducted in a hotel in Denver, I was in the elevator
with deep regrets as I anticipated how the final edit would warp my
words into indictments.
Overall, the finished product wasn't that bad.
They also interviewed Bob Pardo, of Pardo's Push reknown, that same
day. Following day they went to Crested Butte to do the Hal Moore
segment--"We Were Soldiers Once--and Young".
