I have always loved Studebakers, but for no good reason.


There used to be a man who lived in the town of Mann's Crossing, PA, who
had two pristine Studebaker Golden Hawks in his garage. He had been a
dealer and when he retired he took the cream of the crop with him, the
last year's Golden Hawk production and they were loaded with all the
options. I spent a great afternoon with the gentleman back in the
mid-1980's when doing some genealogy work (Mann's Crossing is named
after one of my ancestors). Unfortunately, like so many other things
which happen when an elderly person dies, the family knew nothing about
the cars other than "those old cars in the garage under those dirty old
tarps" and sent them off to the land fill. I found this out some years
later when visiting Mann's Crossing again. The village postmaster had
the whole story.

I cried.
