Isn't it pretty cold and dark over the North Atlantic this time of
year? Don't you get nervous making the crossing with winter weather?



It's not so bad with GPS. Unforecast unfavorable winds are the biggest
problem (overlooking the obvious engine failure scenario) The freezing
level is still at least 500 feet even in winter so ice isn't ordinarily the
same sort of problem it is over land. Arriving at your destination after 12
hours flying and finding you're in a force 9 gale is not nice, though.
