Time for a new headset for Xmas

This can be done. I wanted an electric guitar and amplifier... been
wanting one for 30 years but couldn't justify it. I finally bought what I
wanted and had my father and aunt kick in towards it for my birthday.
Their contributions only covered half of the total cost but it made the
remaining cost OK for me to absorb. Everybody's happy... except the dog

I'm not dead set on the Bose or anything, if there is something in the $500
range that works great in an ANR then I would lean more towards that than a
$1000 headset. Would my mom buy the Bose, probably but I wouldn't do that to
her!
It doesn't matter what the numbers are. I wouldn't ask my family to pay what
that guitar and amp cost either. The point is that by enlisting several of them
you make the process affordable for everyone, plus they don't have to sit there
with the knowledge they got you socks for Christmas... again. They'll know they
got you something you really wanted and use.
And the truth be told, in my case, my family only coughed up half the cost of my
gift. That still brought it down to a range I could justify. Everybody wins.
