Yes, but that does not alter the need for us to keep a visual lookout as best
we can. TCAS is great, as long as it does not reduce the time you have your
eyes (and attention) outside the cockpit.
This accident was apparently a high wing vs. low wing encounter, but we have
(as yet) no way to know if that was a factor.
They recovered the remains of one of the pilots today from gator-populated
swamp. According to local media, the other pilot was a foreign student. Sad
thing.
