Two years ago, My friend Morteza Ansari and I took off from the bay
area for a 8-9 day soaring safari to Parowan Utah. It was a fantastic
trip, with incredible scenery and stunnng XC soaring, perfectly suited
to our budding XC experience.

This year, we are looking for another adventure spot. Something not
more than a day or two drive from the bay area, with a high percentage
of flyable days (it's tough to plan these things and get time off, and
nothing is worse than getting there and being stuck on the ground),
and interesting intermediate XC soaring. It would help to have a
soaring infrastructure there as well-tow planes, local pilots to talk
to, etc.

If you and a buddy had eight days to spend flying, where would you go
for a memorable experience, and why?
