I used to live in Alaska, and up there the vast majority of aircraft don't have insurance. Especially "bush planes". With the cost of insurance sometimes costing 25% of the hull value few can afford it. Many people won't carry any passengers other than their family, and don't even carry liabilty ins. I never carried hull while I was up there, but I did have liabilty. Money wise I am definately way ahead with no hull insurance.

He makes a good point.
Just wondering how many people carry hull insurance on Cirrus's or
Columbia's, where the premiums are so high, or on any plane for that
matter. If you've been flying for years without a mishap, was it worth
the cost?
