They are. The 20mm guns nessecitated a bump on the upper wing surface of the
Spitfire,different Mk guns different bumps, also some had one 20mm in each
wimg others had 2 20 mm guns in each wing. Also see Hurricane, Typhoon and
Tempest the all have some.

What are those teardrop shape bumps on the wings, directly behind the guns
(cannons)? Maybe something aerodynamic just to provide room for the
rearmost part of the weapon? But maybe not.
