Default Recent Mexico Insurance experiences

Anyone gone down to Mexico recently with just "Mexico" listed in their
territory without buying the formal "Mexico Liability"? I've not been
down in almost a year and just wanted to make sure officials were
still ok with this.

Ever since Mexico go rid of their requirement to have a policy written
by a Mexican agent Baja Bush pilots has tried to claim that you must
buy a $250 "Mexico Liability" policy from them. There is no legal
requirement for this and since my policy is fully in force in Mexico I
just ignored it. The BBP policy doesn't even really offer any coverage
because you still have to have a valid general policy in Mexico (for
hull) and it only pays after that policy. (well, ok it does pay
Mexican legal defense) Now Baja Bush pilots is saying your policy
needs to actually state "This policy valid in Mexico". Sounds like
another attempt to get $250 from me; has anyone had a Mexican official
be unhappy with a normal US policy that defines territory as "US,
Canada, Mexico, etc")?
BTW: I tested my policy two years ago by having an accident. Didn't
have an official BBP policy and it didn't make any difference. AIG
paid quickly, even agreeing to use all new parts vs rebuilt on the
advice of the Factory Service Center.
