Default Sen Kennedy learns value of local airport,... hopefully.

From AP article this morning:

Sen. Edward M. Kennedy was airlifted to a Boston hospital
Saturday after suffering a seizure at his home, and did not appear
to have had a stroke as initially suspected, his spokeswoman said.
...On Saturday, Hyannis Fire Lt. Bill Rex said a 911 call came in
from the Kennedy family compound at 8:19 a.m. A man was
transported to Cape Cod Hospital and transferred by air at
10:10 a.m. from Barnstable Municipal Airport to Boston.
...David Reilly, a spokesman for Cape Cod Hospital, said that
Kennedy was brought to the hospital around 9 a.m. and stayed
for about an hour before being flown by helicopter to the Boston
hospital.

I hope the Senator fully recovers from this event. And I hope he
becomes a fervent supporter of small municipal and community
airports nationwide, in light of how important Barnstable Airport
has proven to be for him!

As long as the subsidies are eliminated, there is nothing wrong with
local airports, provided they also comply with local regulations
concerning traffic, noise, etc.

But, 95% of many airports improvements are paid by the general
taxpaying public, with usually only a 2.5% local match and 2.5% state
match. Its the subsidies....
