typical sailplane fuselage weights
I am building my HP-24 fuselage and just wanted to get a ballpark feel
for what a typical single seat fuselage might weigh.
Cheers,
Brad
Another way to look at this would be to work backwards - you know most
modern 15m ships have wings that weight about 150 lbs apiece (give or
take a bit). And you also know that most modern sailplanes weigh
somewhere around 530 - 580 lbs empty (let's call it 550 as a rough
average).
150 * 2 wings = 300 lbs.
550 - 300 = 250 lbs for the fuselage and tail (and all the bits inside
the fuse like landing gear, control-rods, instruments, etc).
Take care,
