Hi,
Good news!
Installing the latest drivers from Socket Mobile seems to have fixed the
problem. I can now receive GPS data through the Socket Ruggedized Serial IO
CF Card without any data loss. It seems to work perfectly because I was
able to download a flight log from a 302 without any security issues.
I also tested with my Holux CF GPS and it works pretty well. There is data
dropped every few seconds. But SeeYou accepts the data just fine. I had the
same results with a Haicom CF GPS.
I still feel that the CF port is a little flaky in the 210 - due to the
results with the 2 CF GPS units.

Hi,
This may seem off-topic, but actually it is not. I have been doing a lot
of testing with my iPAQ 210 and several soaring GPS units and CF Card GPS
units (through a CF Card Serial Port) and I seem to have found a bug in
the iPAQ 210's hardware or software. The GPS data is interrupted every
second or 2. Testing with the same CF Card Serial Port and the 2 CF Card
GPS units on my iPAQ hx4700 works perfectly.
I have a customer that is seeing the same problem. Receiving GPS data
seems to work OK (even though it is interrupted every second or 2) but
transferring a flight log fails.
I just spent an hour or 2 on the phone with HP support and they keep
saying it's a 3rd party hardware or software issue - even though the same
hardware works great on my hx4705. They asked me to send the unit in for
warranty repair. I'm going to do it in hopes that it will get the problem
escalated to the right people at HP. I doubt it will.
I seem to recall talking to a soaring pilot a few years ago that worked at
HP and seemed to be in the know about future Pocket PCs. I'm hoping to
find someone at HP that can forward my problem information to the right
people at HP. I have 2 NMEA data files that show the problem. One of the
files was done with my hx4705 and looks perfect. The other file was done
with my iPAQ 210 and shows the data loss every second or 2.
So, if you work for HP, or know someone who works for HP, please forward
this not to them.
Thanks,
