It has been raining for two solid days, all day long, it seems. We need
the rain badly, and this is exactly the type of rain we need to soak in
and do some good. It is predicted to go on for another day, and then be
scattered for another 4 days.
After this, I believe there will be a lot of people just waiting to go
flying. Perhaps it will be busy at the area airports, again.
Hey -- if you're gonna talk about *flying*, Jim, I'm leaving...
:-)
Just kidding. Today is the start of the Antique Aircraft Association Fly-In
in Blakesburg, Iowa. This incredible non-commercial fly-in (no Ford Motor
Company, no rocket cars -- just AIRPLANES and pilots) always features THE
most unique antique aircraft in the world -- stuff you'll never, ever see,
even at Oshkosh.
We were gonna fly in today (with the Ercoupe, we've finally actually got an
honest "antique" to fly in!) -- but it's been raining here all day, too.
Luckily, we're only a couple of hours drive away, so we'll be out the door
here shortly.
If you ever get a chance to go to Blakesburg, don't miss it. It's a
remarkable event.
