I think she was referring to the Italian military
aviation only. There are
quite a few female combat pilots in the USAF
and USN and probably USMC as well.

I've got a cousin who's a USN F/A-18 pilot; she has two SOUTHERN WATCH
cruises, and flew in ENDURING FREEDOM. She did some bomb-dropping on the
second Iraq cruise and in Afghanistan. But she scares the hell out of me
when I see her: she has a '69 Mercury Cougar convertible and when she takes
me for a spin, she considers the speed limit the minimum. Can you say 105
in a 70?
