An ad hominem argument, also known as argumentum ad hominem
(Latin: "argument to the man", "argument against the man")
consists of replying to an argument or factual claim by
attacking or appealing to a characteristic or belief of the
person making the argument or claim, rather than by
addressing the substance of the argument or producing
evidence against the claim. The process of proving or
disproving the claim is thereby subverted, and the
argumentum ad hominem works to change the subject.

Are you people prepared to have a socialist in the White
House? This really needs to sink into your heads. Starting
January 20th, you can begin to celebrate a new relationship
with your federal government ... a federal government that
will have more say in how you live your life. It's hard to
believe that our government can grow even bigger than it is
today. The fact of the matter is that it will. With Barack
Obama as president of the United States, you can rest
assured that the government will have more of a say in your
healthcare, your retirement, your savings, your taxes, your
spending, your children's education, and that's just the
beginning.

The reality is that most Americans are okay with this ...
they see nothing wrong with it. After all, it is government
that makes this country great, right? And it is a president
that is going to go to Washington and solve all of your
problems. Right? This is, to say the least, alarming. We
have lost this country to Entertainment Tonight watchers,
celebrity worshippers, jock-sniffers. know-everything
college students and those who depend on government
entitlements. Conservatives are going to lose this election
to people who register to vote based on the fact that Jay-Z
is going to host a concert for Obama ... or maybe it will be
that Communist sympathizing band, the Decemberists. John
McCain has lost this election for two reasons ... he
couldn't convince enough people that he wants less
government in your life and he couldn't convince enough
people that he wants more government in your life.
