Default SALTO canopy needed

Very interesting page, Bob. What's the thrust on that puppy and what
kind of temp did you read at the tail? The thought of installing a jet
just a few feet from the vertical fin leaves me nervous. The V tail
solves that problem.
Thanks for sharing,

I was recently looking at having a new canopy made for my Salto so I
wouldn't have to destroy the original to do the jet engine conversion.
The Salto is probably one of the hardest canopies to make. It is very
long and narrow, with reverse curves (like a potato chip) at both ends. I
finally gave up and cut the original.

Best bet would be to pull a mold from a good one and see if Todd or Ray
could make one. I seriously doubt if you could make a Libelle canopy
fit.

There are some reasonably good photos of mine before, during and after the
extensive modification at http://www.vertigoairshows.com/progress.html

You might be able to use some of the photos.

Also, there is a new person handling the Salto parts and maintenance. If
you're interested, e-mail me and I'll give you the info.

Looks kind'a Libellish to me, bet Ray Poquette could do you a modified
(heat and re-work the rear), Libelle canopy. He has a mold for it. I
have mounted one of them, looked good.

I can have tooling made and get you a first article for about what a
factory replacement will cost. Thereafter you can corner the market on
Salto canopies in this half of the globe.

Or if your standards are somewhat on the practical side a Todd's

free-
blown replacement might suit you.

Thanks, Bob K.
