This one I do not understand. Before launch and after landing maybe, but if I
am alone in the cockpit, there is not much help.

All of USAFA's gliders are two place and, as far as I know, they
always fill both seats, even at aerobatic contests where the extra
weight does nothing good for performance.

Yes, USAFA's program is unique and wonderful, IMHO.
