San Francisco Wave?
Ray,
If you can't make it to Minden, you may want to try Williams,
Hollister or Byron. All 3 are within 1-2 hours from SF and occasionly
have wave, but usually not as widespread and consistant as Minden. You
will need to fly with an instructor at Byron or Hollister, while at
Williams you can also rent a single seater.

All,
My wife has a conference to attend in San Francisco between Christmas
and New Year's Day and I'm being dragged along as "arm candy." *(I
learned that term from UH.)
Any chance of wave activity within the San Fran area? *What about
Williams or even over to Minden. *Does the wave appear out there
during this time period?
Should I take my log books and thick socks, or just be happy with
visits to the wine regions?
Thanks,

Ray:
Weather permitting, Minden is about a 4.5 hour drive from SF and more
likely to have real wave than Williams. *Go to our website
www.soaringnv.com and click on the "weather" link. *It has links to
the 700 mb and 250 mb jet stream predictions, which can be a good
indication of wave up to 10 days in advance, and sometimes even more
than that. *If it looks like we'll have wave, just give us a call (775
782-9595 or my own personal cell at 775 790-4314). What you're looking
for is wind from between 210 and 310 degrees at 25 knts on the 700 mb
chart and faster on the 250 mb chart. *I'll probably not be here from
the 20th to the 27th, but will be glad to tow you after that.

Fred,
Thanks for the info! *Maybe I can sneak away from Rice-A-Roni town and
get out to Minden.
